Erika in NatureA Voice for Marin's Water Future

Erika Lovejoy is running for the Marin Municipal Water District Board because the decisions made today about water supply, watershed health, and wildfire and climate resilience will shape Marin for generations.

Throughout her career, Erika has worked at the intersection of water policy, habitat restoration, and climate resilience — helping government agencies, communities, and landowners collaborate to solve complex environmental challenges. For more than 14 years, Erika has been a Director at Sustainable Conservation, an environmental nonprofit focused on habitat restoration and initiatives to improve water quality and supply.

Erika grew up in the Bay Area and the Sierra foothills. Her mother was a public health nurse who dedicated her life to serving communities, including tribal communities in the Four Corners region and some of the most underserved communities in East Oakland and rural foothill counties.

Erika earned her degree from UC Davis in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning, and has worked as an environmental scientist and planner at California’s Water Boards, Coastal Commission, and Department of Water Resources, as well as for San Francisco County.

Erika has lived in Mill Valley since 2011 and serves as Chair of the Marin County Parks and Open Space Commission. She also served on the Marin Measure A Oversight Committee, ensuring that voter-approved revenue is responsibly invested in our parks, open space, recreation, and farmland preservation. As an avid hiker, cyclist, birder, and outdoor enthusiast, Erika believes strongly in stewarding Marin’s natural lands while supporting thoughtful public access and meaningful opportunities to connect with the outdoors and the landscapes that make Marin so extraordinary.
